FOCUS ON THE LORD NOT YOUR PROBLEMS.
It is evident that everyone has problems and difficult circumstances in their lives to deal with. When you choose to focus on the LORD instead of focusing on the storms and problems in your life, you have made the decision to walk and live by faith and not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
You do not have the power to stop problems from popping up from time to time, but you do have the power to not let them take over your precious life.
You can read on this article on THE LIFE OF JESUS to see how He deal with His problems, and overcome temptations and stayed focused on what was most important.
No matter how great you think your problems might be, they can never be greater than the God who created the heavens and the earth.
So when that situation shows up, focus on the LORD through prayer. When you pray however, you need to get out of God's way and you do that by stop worrying, and allow God to fix whatever the issue might be.
The power of prayer in the midst of your circumstances, problems or storms is like the power of God calming a troubled sea.
Most times Christians allow the problem to rob them of their will to communicate with the LORD about the situation, and as a result you spent most of your time focused on the issue when you should be focusing on the LORD through prayer.
The Scripture did not say, "in somethings" but "in everything" make your request known unto GOD. Philippians 4:6
Focus on the LORD through prayer because prayer have been proven to solve problems and fix issues that worrying only made worse.
One of the best discipline that you need to develop is a habitual prayer life. This means that you literally make prayer a part of your everyday routine.
So while you are working you can speak to God in your heart. While you are driving, you can communicate with the LORD. When you feel like worrying, you can choose to speak to the LORD in prayer.
The Apostle Paul puts a great emphasis on the importance of prayer when he instructed us to "pray without ceasing." 1 Thessalonians 5:17
For more on the topic of prayer, read my recent article: WHAT IS PRAYER AND WHAT SHOULD WE TALK TO GOD ABOUT?
This statement might seem simple, but it is of great importance if you are going to focus on the LORD and serve Him wholeheartedly.
The Scripture said: "There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." (talking about sin.) Proverbs 14:12
Habitual sinning only creates more stress and problems to worry about. Sometimes it might be some people that make you sin against God because they have made themselves spiritually available to be used by the devil against you.
Sometimes it might be a certain place where once you are present, there is a temptation that wants to lead you away from the presence of the LORD.
Whatever it might be that triggers that habitual sin that you are trying to get rid of, get it out of your life for good, so that you will not be distracted when you start to focus on the LORD.
Sin is a heavy burden to carry; and while you are living for Jesus you need to lay aside every weight, because the load will hold you back when you really want to walk before God with a perfect heart. Hebrews 12:1
With habitual sin in your life, you can never grow spiritually and become a vessel of honor that God can use for His glory. In order to go to the next level in the LORD, you need to cut off everything that tempts you to go back to that old habitual sin.
This one might seem super obvious; but most of us are guilty of not spending quality time in the word of God including myself.
The truth is this: "whether we study the Bible or whether we keep ignoring it, the power that it has to transform our lives never changes."
The transformation cannot take place however, until we choose to forget our problems, and become determined to focus on the LORD through Bible studies.
God wants us to preach and teach His words rightly, without adding or taking away anything from the text. So the Apostle Paul urged us to study our Bible so that we can become approved unto God, workmen who are not ashamed but rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
We could not talk about how to focus on the LORD and not talk about fasting.
A lot of the problems, pains, circumstances, heavy burdens and storms in your life will not subside, will not disappear, will not take their flight and leave until you fast and pray. Matthew 17:21 Mark 9:29
Most times fasting is the one thing that helps best to get us to focus on the LORD and carry out all the other important Christian requirements.
I am not saying other things are not important such as praying and Bible studies. What I am saying is this: "Fasting is like an appetizer, it will open your appetite to want to study your Bible more; and open your appetite to want to communicate through prayer with the LORD more.
So while prayer is very effective when you are faced with problem, "fasting and prayer" is a whole lot more effective in completely weeding out the problems by their roots.
