Godliness cannot be achieved by doing the ungodly deeds. To please God, you need to practise holiness because holiness and godliness goes together.
You can reach to higher heights and deeper depths of godliness in God if you feast upon the scriptures. You will not grow spiritually and become more like Christ if you don't spend time with Him.
The bible said that we are the light of the world. Therefore, we need to reflect the glory of God to the world through our lives.
Does the Bible say cleanliness is next to godliness?
Contrary to what many believe, the phrase "cleanliness is next to godliness" is not found in the Bible.
Many people relate this phrase to the Bible due to the fact that it is very often heard in Christian homes. In reality, the phrase is a very old proverb believed to be found in the Babylonian and Hebrew religious tracts.
However, the two are obviously very much similar in meaning. Because in order for you to be godly, you need to be cleansed from your sinful state and ungodly habits.
The fact that you have been baptized in His name and received the precious Holy Ghost are evidence that a change has begun within you.
Choose to daily seek God's face. Read your Bible, fast and pray. Because these are your tools to develop a character of holiness, godliness and cleanliness.
Sometimes it will not be easy to live godly. However you should always remember where your strength lies. Your God is present help in times of trouble, so when huge problematic situations arisen, fall upon your knees seek the help of your God.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Godliness requires that every one of your old ways be left behind. Because you grow spiritually and godly if you are holding on to your old ways.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
When you come to Jesus, He requires that you present your body completely to Him. This means that you can no longer do the unholy things that you used to do with your body anymore.
Godliness is achieved by the transformation of the mind. It is with the mind that we serve God, so we need to put all negative and sinful thoughts out so that God can have His way in our lives.
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
When we crave the things of this world more than we crave the things of God, we are satisfying the gratifications of the flesh while the spiritual man is dying.
However, the word of God said that we should abstain from everything that will make us lose our way.
Because the road that leads to eternal life is narrow and straight, and it is easy to fall off that road. So seek a life of godliness and live holy unto your God because you shall be rewarded with everlasting life.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Godliness require the fruit of the Spirit such as:
Love will cover a multitude of sins so let love be a part of you.
The joy of the Lord is your strength. Therefore rejoice in your God and be glad for what He has done for you.
Let the peace of God which passeth all understanding rest and abide with you.
Longsuffering is a Christian virtue, which if done faithfully, will lead to godliness.
The scripture urges us to live peaceful with all man. This is gentleness in action.
God is good to us, we also should seek to be good to each other.
Godliness requires faith, and without faith it is impossible to please God. Have faith in your Christian journey, and continue to strive for godliness. Amen
