Many times we choose not to obey the Lord, this is disobedience, and disobedience is sin. The more time we spend reading God's words, the easier it becomes for us to do whatever God asks us to do.
Sometimes it gets hard and we do the wrong thing by putting our desires and ourselves in the place of the Lord.
God made us as worship beings, so we have a nature to worship. And we worship whatever or whoever we spend majority of our time on or with.
So if we choose not to obey the Lord and live according to His words, it is possible that there is some idol or god that we are spending the time with, which automatically takes the place of the Lord.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Our God is holy and so He doesn't tolerate unholy lifestyle. We need to be obedient to His word because if we are not, we sin and the wages of sin is death. The Lord is expecting us to follow His examples by practicing what we preach.
Sometimes we face challenges and disappointments; like losing a loved one, losing our job or even being hit by disasters such as hurricanes or earthquakes. However, these things does not give us any right to not obey the Lord.
It is a fact that we are humans, and we do make mistakes and we are not perfect. A period of disappointment and disaster can be really discouraging. However, these are events and activities that are outside of our control, and we can never allow them to make us lose our faith in God and be disobedient to His words.
Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
There are times when we get discouraged due to circumstances and crisis happening in our lives. We might go through set backs and severe stress due to different issues that we ourselves cannot explain.
I would suggest that it is during times like these that we should trust and obey the Lord even more. Jesus clearly told us that if we have labored and the heavy burdens of this life are weighing us down, we should come to Him and He will give us rest.
The song writer also encouraged us to take our burdens to the Lord and leave it there. What we don't want to do in a time of crisis, is separating ourselves from fellowshipping with the Lord.
The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him.
There might be times in our lives when things don't go according to plan, and we cannot seem to understand what is happening. This does not mean that the Lord is evil.
Things happen for different reasons based on the decisions we make as individuals. Therefore this has nothing to do with God not being a good God.
The Lord woke us up every morning and gave us many chances to repent of our sins and reunite with Him. Many times the Lord save us from terrible accidents that would cost us our lives if it were not for His divine intervention.
We should always obey the Lord and praise Him because He is good and His mercies endureth forever.
Thank you for reading and I hope something that you read would have encouraged you to trust and obey the Lord more.
God bless you.
