Every Christian must run the race and live by the examples that JESUS sets for us to follow. All of us are running but are we all running to win? We should run not just for the fun, but with a winning mentality.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
The Scripture often describes our Christian journey as a race. We run this race everyday. Not literally running around our block or trying to be the next Usain Bolt.
The Christian race is about choices we make on a daily basis. There are many choices we make daily including:
These are only a few of the many choices we make. When we make the right choices, we fulfil the will of the LORD. We are also rewarded and God works upon the good desires of our hearts.
2 Timothy 4:7
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
Run the race so you can say like Paul: you have fought a good fight. You will sometimes feel like you don't want to run anymore, this is the enemy trying to get you to make the wrong choice.
You must be determine to reach the finish line. That finish line can be one of two things for you. Either your departure from life or should the LORD return before you die.
A lot of persons run the race but do not reach the finish line. They did not seek GOD for help when the race got heated and the devil was on their track.
You must have the LORD with you because you cannot make it on your own. When we talk about running the Christian race, it cannot be done by your own might.
You should seek the help of the LORD and ask Him to direct your steps. You need Him to show you the course He laid out for you. When we don't know the words to pray, we can pray God's Word back to Him.
God wants to help us and He hears clearly when we pray His Word back to Him.Psalm 16:1
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
The Psalmist is seeking God's help for protection against the enemy. We need spiritual protection from the attacks of the enemy; just like we need physical protection from danger.
46 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
We can run the race because GOD is our help. When trouble arise let us look to the hills from whence cometh our help. Our help cometh from the LORD which made the heavens and the earth.
God bless you
