Greetings, in this study we will observe what The Great Tribulation is and provide you with Scriptures around it's teaching in the Bible.
It is not possible to provide you with all the information that you may be seeking in this brief article; however we will do our best to explain this very important topic to the best of our knowledge.
We truly hope that whatever you learnt here, will help in some way as you continue your research on this topic.
The term tribulation means: Judgment, trouble, persecution, anguish and affliction...
The Great Tribulation that the Bible speaks of can be found in the following Scriptures:
The Great Tribulation was mentioned by Jesus in His Olivet Discourse; and He explained it as dreadful signs that would happen in the last days.
The great tribulation is a time of great distress upon the land, the kind that have never been experienced before. The "TRIBULATION" however; is a period of SEVEN (7) years of trouble, Read it here …
The last half i.e. 3.5 years which the Bible referred to as the great tribulation, will be the most severe of the SEVEN. Daniel 9:27
During this period, there will be a number of terrible judgements upon the earth. A great deal of what will happen during the great tribulation is written in the chapters of Revelation 6-18.
According to Revelation these judgements will occur through seven seals, seven trumpets and seven bowls of judgements.
These are really symbols of the kind of judgements that will be poured out in the last days.
All of this might seem strange; but we did not make this up, it is all there in your Bible.
God will destroy every false religion from the earth, every hypocrites, wicked and unholy people will be exposed. There will be great difficulties and an increase in evil during these last days. 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
Jesus spoke of this time in Matthew 24:21 using the term great tribulation. Jesus said; "For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall."
Before all these events take place however, there will be The Rapture of the church, which will mark the beginning of the tribulation. 1 Thessalonians 4:17
Those who have kept God's words and patiently endured many trials and persecutions, will be saved from this time of great trials. Revelation 3:10
God also made a promise with His servant Abraham that He would not destroy the righteous with the wicked. Genesis 18:23.
We also saw this principle demonstrated when God took Enoch before the flood, and allowed Noah and his family to settle safely within the ark before the rain started to fall. Genesis 5:21-24; Genesis 7:9-10,16
The tribulation period lasted from Revelation 6 through to 19 without any mention of the church which is clear indication that The Rapture will take place before all these judgements.
Daniel referred to The Great Tribulation as the abomination of desolation in Daniel 9:27
Jesus also spoke of the abomination of desolation in His Olivet Discourse as an end time sign before He returns to earth. Matthew 24:15
