Most times when you ask 'who is God?,' one of the main thing that you want to know is His name. 1 Corinthians 8:6 John 1:1-3
The Scriptures made it clear that Jesus is the incarnation of God. This means that He was fully God and fully man while He was upon the earth.
Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost in the womb of the virgin Mary. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God, so we can certainly see how it was possible for Him to place Himself inside the womb of the virgin so that she became pregnant. Matthew 1:18
After the virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus, He grew up and started His ministry about the age of thirty, where He preached the Kingdom message, performed many miracles and died for our sins. (which only God could do). Galatians 1:4
He founded the Christian Church and died a crucifixion's death which was required for the atonement for our sins. One of the best things that will help you to truly know who is God is your Bible, because in it's contents, Jesus claimed to be God. John 8:58, John 10:30, Philippians 2:5-6, Colossians 2:9-10
Knowing some of the attributes of God will help greatly as you seek to know who is God. So here are some widely used attributes of the God of the Bible.
Those are just a few of the many attributes of who God is.
If you want to know who is God because you are curious about your existence, this part is for you.
God was not created, He has always been in existence. Psalm 102:25-27
God created everything in the heavens, upon the earth and in the waters. All of this God did out of nothing but His spoken words because everything was already in Him. Isaiah 40:28
Everything in the universe including us human beings were created by the God of the Bible. He is the God who rules the heavens and the earth and all powers, dominions and authorities are the work of His hands. Colossians 1:16, Acts 17:24, Genesis 1:2, Hebrews 1:2
God created everything before He created man, and when He saw that everything that he created was all good, He decided to create man (us). Genesis 1:25
However there was something special about us, because He did not create us like everything else that He created, He created us in His image and likeness. Because He made us in His resemblance, He gave us dominion and authority over all the works of His hands. Genesis 1:25-26
This means that we have dominion over the fishes of the sea, over everything that flies in the air, over every cattle, and over everything that moves upon the earth. Genesis 1:26
Out of all of God's creations, we only were created in His own image, both male and female. Genesis 1:27
Part of who God is can be found in the way that He demonstrated His own love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners He came and died for us. John 3:16, Romans 5:8.
The Bible said that if we don't know how to love, we do not know God because God is love. 1 John 4:8
God does not forces Himself on anybody, he gave us free will to accept Him as Lord and Savior. Love is also one of the attributes of God (which should be in the list above, but we put it by itself for emphasis,) because the love of God is not like how we would say, we love our wives or our husbands, God's love is unconditional and totally pure.
What God demonstrated on Calvary's cross for your sins and for my sins was sacrificial love. This kind of love we will not find in the human race, because the hearts of the human race are desperately wicked above all things. Jeremiah 17:9
Even with this knowledge of how wicked our hearts are, God still chose to die for your sins and for mine. There is absolutely no greater love than the love of God. John 15:13
According to the dictionary, the word trinity means: "Three persons in the Christian Godhead. A group of three people or things."
There is only one God. His name is Jesus. Many persons believe that there are three distinct persons in the Godhead Bodily, this is unscriptural. Deuteronomy 6:4
The Lord our God is one. There are different functions of the one God, but that doesn't mean that there are three Gods sitting on three different thrones. He is all-powerful and He can do multiple things at the same time in different places because He is the Almighty God. 1 Chronicles 29:11
These Scriptures will help you understand that God is not three, but one, including one of the Greatest commandments, i.e. "Hear oh Israel, the LORD our God is one LORD. Deuteronomy 6:4
Look at these too:
While Jesus/God was upon the earth, He never said that He was a separate being from God the Father. Rather He said: "I and the Father are one," this means that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. John 10:30 2 Corinthians 5:19
Who is God? Our God is a God of forgiveness. He wanted to unite with us so much that while we were in our sins, He manifested Himself in flesh to make atonement for our sins. 1 John 2:2
The responsibility to repent of our sins however, is not His. It is our own. He had already made a way for us to escape the wrath that is to come at the Judgement Day. Revelation 6:17
We need not be condemned into everlasting damnation, we only need to repent of our sins and humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God so we can receive His forgiveness and escape death. 1 Peter 5:6, Psalm 68:20
After you've asked who is God, and we provided you with answers, your next question might be, "where did we get all this information from?"
The answer to that question is even easer than answering the first question "who is God."
Answer: "The Bible."
There you go.
Now go and read it.
That's not enough?

The Bible is not just a book like every other books, it is the infallible words of God. God inspires men to write about Him and all His works which He performed from the beginning at creation, to the time of Jesus who is the fulfilment of the Old Testament laws and Prophets. 2 Timothy 3:16, Matthew 5:17
There are many gods, and they are all spelt with a lower case "g," but the God that we speak of here is the God of the Bible, whose name must be spelt with an uppercase "G" because He is all-powerful and He is our Creator. Genesis 1:26-27
